New Product: MS-PS1-2 Physical and Chemical Changes Lesson Plans

I am still revamping and adding cute clipart to my resources. But, I did create my MS-PS1-2 lesson plans with portions of them available separately. Here is the description of the lesson plans: These chemical reaction lesson plans have activities to help students create and gain a basic understanding of physical and chemical changes. They start with an introductory phenomenon on changes. Next, students have research, stations, and a lab to understand the objective better. Two assessments are included: a CER and a critical thinking question about physical and chemical changes.

Freebie Focus: LUCKY St. Patrick’s Day Science Coloring Page — Periodic Table of Elements Theme

This freebie is in time for St. Patrick's Day ! It's a free element coloring sheet by  Madd for Science . The elements spell out the word "lucky" with festive decorations. They suggest using it as a warm-up or an activity for students that finish early. (I personally would use it for early finishers and  display completed sheets around the classroom.) Freebie Focus: Compounds & Reading Chemical Formulas Guided Notes

I found this note sheet   from Scientific Notation , another new and impressive store. They created a note sheet on chemical formulas and notation for compounds. What I love: Spots for students to doodle Eye-appealing Answer key included Easy to follow Needless to say, I cannot wait to see what other materials they create as their store grows. New Products: Atoms and Chemicals

I have a few atoms and physical science based products that are new to my store. 1.  MS-PS1-1: Atomic Structure Activity- Building Molecules This activity would serve best as an introduction to atoms and matter. Day one consists of students learning how atoms bond to form molecules using the premade model. On day two, students create their model to make an assigned molecule. In a pinch, day one could be a print-and-go activity. Students could cut apart their atoms in class to save prep time. Standards/Objectives: ✅NGSS: MS-PS1-1 This product includes the following activities: ⚪Looking at patterns ⚪Creating molecules ⚪Creating molecule models 2.  MS-PS1-2 Poisonous Pee Chemical Reaction Lab Students examine whether chemicals are safe to use as a cleaner on toilets to learn about chemical reactions. Their task is to help OSHA determine what cleaners are safe for a fictitious school to use and what should be investigated further. Background knowledge of chemical reactions is best...

Convection Currents

My cohort and I realized that our students were scoring low on a question about the relationship between density and temperature on our check point. I created something similar for the students to draw in their notebooks and we viewed a couple things as we discussed, like this amazing convection current video  and this animation of molecules and temperature from Middle School Chemistry. I think it helped clear up a few cobwebs. We'll find out more over the next week! I added a free graphic organizer that can be downloaded on my Teachers Pay Teachers account. Please check it out and leave feedback!
